Step into School skills social group
Our School Readiness Fine Motor Group helps young learners build the hand strength, coordination, and confidence they need for a successful start to school. Through playful, hands-on activities—like cutting, drawing, building, squeezing, and crafting—children practice important skills for writing, using classroom tools, and participating in daily school routines.
Children will work on skills such as:
• Pencil grasp and early writing skills
• Proper scissor use and cutting accuracy
• Hand strength and finger dexterity
• Hand–eye coordination
• Bilateral coordination (using both hands together)
• Visual-motor and pre-writing skills
• Independence with classroom tasks
• Attention, persistence, and confidence
This small-group setting provides individualized support from a pediatric occupational therapist in a warm, encouraging environment. Children leave feeling capable, motivated, and ready for school success!
